A Tax Deduction for you
and
your opportunity to help the elderly and disabled.

You Can Help Us, We Can Help You

During 2001, CSI helped over 300 elderly and disabled clients. Services included banking, record keeping, bill paying and negotiation, budgeting, correspondence. Besides these activities, we assisted a growing number of homeless find housing, assisted in carehome placement, arranged funeral services for those without family. By donating your car to CSI, you can receive a tax deduction and, at the same time, help those less fortunate. Cars are turned over to Kokua In Kind and proceeds are used to support CSI programs.

Procedure

Call CSI, Inc. (538-0353) to schedule a time when you can bring your car in or when it can be picked up. Car should be clean and personal belongings removed. Bring your car title, registration, and safety check with you. DO NOT sign the title. Someone will be there to give you instructions regarding signing off on the title and will give you a confirmation notice and Notice of Transfer. File the Notice of Transfer with the county so you will not be liable for the car.

You will receive a thank you letter and receipt from CSI. This will serve as your receipt to the IRS.


CSI, Inc. is a private nonprofit agency established in 1987 and is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for Hawaii's older adults and those with disabilities who need help in maintaining or achieving a comfortable, secure, and independent lifestyle.

Maintaining an independent lifestyle as long as possible is a cherished goal for most people, but often they do not know where to turn for assistance in dealing with their financial affairs. For the elderly and disabled, routine tasks such as the payment of a bill, the filing of an insurance claim form, checkbook reconciliation, record keeping, and mail sorting can be an overwhelming experience.

CSI's mission is to eliminate this stress and confusion by providing a wide variety of services designed to keep one's financial affairs in order, to minimize their vulnerability to financial abuse, and to assist in helping them remain independent.

CSI Services

Money Management

Money management includes a broad group of services designed to assist older person or persons with disabilities in managing their financial affairs. Services include:

  • checkwriting/depositing/reconciliation
  • bill negotiation and paying
  • budget counseling
  • mail sorting/correspondence
  • health insurance filing
  • public entitlement applications
  • carehome placement

Representative Payee and Guardianship Programs

CSI serves as Representative Payee for government benefits programs including Social Security, Supplemental Security Income, and Veterans' Benefits.

CSI also serves as Guardian of the Property if no family member is available.
