School Teacher Gives Salvation Army $200,000
CSI Inc. Delivers the Astonishing Bequest

Honolulu, HI - (August 27, 2010) Diana Lord led a modest life, but gave away a small fortune at her death. When the retired Kamehameha School middle school teacher passed away in March 2008, she left The Salvation Army a gift of $203,694.02 to provide financial support to Salvation Army programs that assist the elderly. The gift was recently received by Major Edward Hill, divisional commander of The Salvation Army Hawaiian and Pacific Islands Division. It was handed by Shin Domen, executive director of CSI, Inc., a local nonprofit organization that provides financial oversight to the elderly. Domen helped administer Lord's bequest.

"The Salvation Army is very grateful for Ms. Lord's generous gift," said Hill. "It is clear that she has a lot of compassion for the elderly in our community and we intend to use her gift to strengthen the programs that lend particular assistance to our seniors."

CSI, Inc. shared Maj. Hill's sentiment. "It's not often that people get to participate in a real-life miracle," Domen said. "Diana Lord gave an enormous gift at a time in our economy when charities are stretched thin and funding is difficult to obtain. It's amazing that one woman will make such a difference to help many people who seek assistance through The Salvation Army."
